The Experience VehicleThe Overland Experience vehicle comes with all the equipment for crossing the Africa continent. The vehicle after all becomes your home from home. The design of our trucks has developed over the years to provide maximum safety, comfort and accessibility. Our vehicles have comfortable inward facing coach style seats with forward facing seats toward the front of the vehicle, providing ample legroom and all round visibility They also have individual lockers for your luggage. The vehicles all come with a music player, a small library and a safe. The vehicles also have large water and diesel tanks to cope with the vast distances that we travel. You will find a range of camping equipment including tents, cooking equipment and catering equipment.
The Experience CrewOn your overland experience you will be accompanied by a driver and a ‘Rep’. It is the driver’s role to drive from location to location and maintain the vehicle. The Rep is responsible for looking after the group, organising duties, to ensure shopping, cooking and hygiene duties are carried out on time and correctly and to generally to be on hand to assist and share their wealth of knowledge of Africa with the group.
How the Pass worksEach experience pass is a portion of the full Equator - Cape circuit. Your pass is valid for the number of days travelled. For example; if you purchase a 24 day "Equator Explorer Pass" you can ride the Overland Experience for a total of 24 days, taking 6 months in which to use those 24 days. Days are recorded by our crew and HQ.
Getting a Pass.Passes and extensions can only be purchased from authorised sales agents. Passes cannot be purchased or extended with the road crew. Passes are quoted in GBP pounds per day. The longer the pass the cheaper it gets. Remember the pass covers numbers of days on the "Experience" expedition vehicle. When you are not on the vehicle you don’t have to pay.
Local PaymentFor every day that you are with the Experience expedition vehicle then a local payment of $20 a day is payable to the "Experience" crew. This in general covers breakfast and evening dinner prepared by the group as well as camping fees. Local Payment must be paid in advance to the crew for the portion of your pass when you Hop On, it is compulsory, non-discountable, non refundable.
Hopping Off and Hopping OnYou can Hop off and transfer to another Overland Experience vehicle at any time as long as you have a valid voucher and of course depending on availability. We advise to book your Hop on Hop Off sections as early as you can to avoid disappointment. Remember you do not have to Hop Off at all, stay on board and travel from point to point without breaking your journey.
Reservations and Booking. You can book and pay for an "Experience Pass" either online via the web site, by telephoning our office, or visiting one of our many associated sales agents. We confirm a booking once we have received your payment and booking form. |
